I have been searching for a decent card with a low apr and no fees.
I would say that this is the best all around deal.
I had excellent credit. I own my own business. I had two accounts with Chase for my business. Someone embezzled money from my business and had stolen several thousand dollars before it was caught. I paid all of my creditors except Bank One. Chase had always been paid on time for the four years I had the Chase card, I never ever had a late payment. They found out that I had two past due payments with Bank One, that now were up to date.
Without notifying me in advance, they raised my interest rate from 4.99% to 25.99%. I don't understand how this is legal. Chase was never paid late so why should it be any of their business what happened with another company. Bank One was the one I paid late, and they worked with me to bring my account back to good standing. I wrote letters to Chase and faxed them copies of the letter from Bank One to prove the account is in good standing. They were very nasty and said it wasn't anything they could do. I managed to pay off the card that had 11,000 on it. But being a small business owner, I could not pay off the one with 20,000 on it. At 25.99% the bill came in with almost 500.00 dollars in interest alone. As a result of this unfair policy, I can no longer pay them and my credit is ruined.
If you don't believe me about their policy, which I was never informed about. Call Chase and ask them. If you fall behind with another creditor, even if you hve never been late paying Chase, they will raise your rate to 25.99%. How in the world can this be legal.

I had this card for about 3 years now and cannot give a single compaint about it or Chase Bank. The company always posted my payments on time and never charged me interest since I paid my balance in full on time.
I would not hesitate to get this card if a low APR and a long purchase and balance transfer APR is what you want.
The rates are lower than most, given the rising interest rates and there is no annual fee. Not a bad deal at all.
Most people that pay off a card every month like me think that the APR is not important. Well, get this: what if ... Yes, loosing a job, family or medical emergency, house catches on fire, etc. Can you pay off the card that month if one of these things happen?
Rewards are nice too, and this card offers an optional rewards program, so together this card is a great deal. Plus I have always liked Chase's customer service from day one.
They charged me a late fee. I checked the date I
mailed the payment, and it was ten days before
the due date. I called them on the phone to ask
why I was charged a late fee, when I had sent
the payment ten days before the due date. The
apparently young gentleman on the other end of
the line seems to have had some kind of attitude
problem, and I was told Chase did not have any
control over the U.S. Postal Service, that they
received the payment late, and therefore I would
have to pay the late fee. The next statement I
received, they had charged me $ 1.00 interest
on the late fee, and my interest rate had gone
up to 148 %. Repeat, 148 %. I didn't think I wanted
a Chase card after that, so I cancelled the credit
card account. Then, after checking my credit score,
it seems Chase caused my credit rating to go down
quite a bit, from nothing I had done, but from errors
that Chase had made. So, THAT is why I would not
recommend a Chase Platinum card to anyone.
I would be more than happy to send anyone a
certified copy of the statement showing the 148 %
interest rate.

THIS COMPANY IS A SCAM !!!!!!!!!!!!! ONE DAY LATE MY INTEREST WENT FROM 0% TO 32% STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY LATE FEE 39.00.
I've had this card for nine months. I applied online and was surprised when it arrived a week later. I was given a 0% balance transfer for 6 months and 3% fee on the transfer. APR for purchases was initially 23.24% and with a low limit of $400. I called after three months and they gave me a CLI of $600 bringing the line to $1000. I called today and requested a lower APR and was approved for 18.9%. I use the card frequently and nearly PIF, usually keeping a balance of less than $100. Currently they are using the 2 period balance computation for interest, but that is ending in December. No universal default penalty APR.
I got a pre approval offer in the mail but I dont know if I should apply ? All im worried about is not getting a decent credit line , ( at least 5000 ) . My highest credit line is 11000 . Does anyone know if chase starts you off with big credit lines ? How is their customer service ?
I had a chase platn.visa card since 1990. When they asked me to go paperless I said yes. What they didn\'t tell me was that my statement would be going to my BULK email account. I have my BULK email account set to \"void empty\" so I don\'t get any junk mail. Well, due to this I did not pay my bill of a couple hundred bucks, for 3 months. For that they raised my APR to 29.99%. Oh my God, I wanted to die. It was at 10.99%. When I called them, the very nice man in India told me the best he could do was 24.99%. So, I closed it. Now this is going to hurt my TRW. Chase Visa has distroyed what I have worked for so long to keep clean. They wanted me to go paperless and now because of this I now have bad credit and no visa card. Lucky for me I have had an American Express Gold since 1988. I hope this bank goes under!
I am sneaking into the majors, guys. I applied online for this card on a lark and I was approved for a 400 dollar limit, with no AF, and 0% interest for a year!!!!! I was shocked when I got approved. My TU score for May was in the low 600s. I know the limit is low, but I dont care that much about it at this point. I am glad that I got my foot in the door with Chase. After I finish paying off my HSBC cards, they will go on hiatus for at least three months before I use them again. I am going to use the heck out of this card to get the limit up. I am not going to screw around with Chase at all. It is funny that this card's limit is at the same limit of my Premier Bank MC.
I went into Chase bank to open a checking account and the banker stated i was pre-approved for some of the cards they had, she pulled up all the ones that were offered to me on her screen and this one caught my eye. it was the lowest interest rate i saw on there. the promotion was 0% for 6 months on BT and purchases. I ended up getting a credit limit of $7,000 and my interest rate after the promotion is the prime rate + 2.99% which equals as of right now 7.99%. the card is barely on its way so i haven't had a history with it yet. my credit score as of right now is at 730.
About 4 months ago, I got an amazing offer from Chase Credit Cards for 0% interest on purchases and balance transfers until October 2009. I decided to take it and transfer my one other balance to this card since it was a better deal. I never received any terms and agreements or statements by mail, but I thought everything was ok since I could see everything online. A month went by and I was able to go online and pay my bill. The next month, I couldn't get to my account online. I called Chase 4 times and couldn't get past the recording or kept getting transferred to a line that didn't work (I still have 3 names from the calls). I called a second number and the technician there was great and told me not to worry, my account would be up the next day. I checked and it was not. 3 more phone calls over the next 3 days to Chase and I still could not get to anyone that could help me. 3 different customer service reps told me that I could just pay online when my account was up and there would be no penalty. So, I took their word for it. Then, on a Saturday morning at 7:30am, I got a call from a Chase rep saying that I had not paid my bill and therefore my rates would be going to their defaults of almost 14%. I freaked out, paid the bill over the phone (which cost me an additional $50) and when I woke up, I called 7 times. After 7 calls I finally got to an "advisor" that listened to the whole scenario:
I never received anything in the mail about this account, I could not get online to pay it, I wasn't receiving statements I could send my payment in with and whenever I called I was assured that I would not be penalized because online being down was not my fault.
He told me that they would review my case and I would receive a letter in 7-10 business days letting me know if they decided to lower my rate back down to 0%. I received a letter that said they had reinstated the "original rates" about 12 days later. I thought the ordeal was done. However, this month I checked and my interest rate is almost 8%. And, just to add fuel to the fire, they sent me 8 offers in the mail that were the exact one that I originally signed up for (0%).
I spent 1.5 hours on the phone getting transferred from customer service to billing to collections back to customer service then finally to another "advisor" (CJ Lamay) who informed me that even though I was not at the 0% that I signed up for, I was also not at the 14% that I had paid when I "defaulted" on my payments. But they couldn't put me down to the original offer because there were late fees in my account history, though they had been removed at some point. I asked him if I could transfer everything over to a new account using one of the 8 promotions they had sent me (seemed like a reasonable and amicable solution) but was told that I could not pay a Chase card with another Chase card. He did offer some great advice though - I could open a new line of credit, get a check with it, pay the associated fees with that, put the money needed to pay off my balance into my checking account, then close the original account, all to get the offer that I had originally signed up for, but I would have to wait 90 days to do that. I thanked him, hung up and went to capital one where I now have a 0% interest, rewards bearing card that I was able to create online and be approved instantly for, that I have transferred the balance of that chase card to. Please learn from my mistake and NEVER SIGN UP FOR A CHASE CARD!!!!!
Called CS regarding the payoff of my HELOC and before the call ended I was offered a Platinum Visa with a $7500 CL, 0% for 6 months on purchases and bt's, after that prime+2.99%. Card should arrive in 10 days. Im personally very happy with chase and have no problems with them.
