I got a pre-Approved letter from Chase. I went to the website and entered my information and they said a decision will come within 4 weeks. I was pre-approved and now a decision will come in 4 weeks??? Well I didn't get the card, which actually I'm happy I did not, the terms and conditions allow Chase to increase your APR for ANY reason including high usage on other cards. The reason for denial went something like "you have a collection, bankruptcy, late payment or other negative item on your credit report that does not allow us to extend credit to you at this time" no words just??? Below that it said please consider Chase first for future credit needs once this item is cleared. what item?? I"M NEVER DOING BUSINESS WITH CHASE. btw I'm @ about a 700 transunion score
I have been looking for the right card for quite sometime. This Chase card was perfect until I found out they computed intrest using the "2-cycle" method. According to a press release out of Wilmington, DE. they pledged to stop "2-cycle". To confirm this I have contacted their customer service. After talking to several people they did verify that as of March 1, 2007 "2-cycle" is no longer the method they use. When I called to apply for a card, that department apparently has not received this information, nor has their website been updated. So I am just going to sit tight and make sure it is in print before I apply.
P.S. The customer service wasn't the greatest. Nothing like trying to communicate with non-english speaking reps. It seems like they read a script, and if you stray away from that.... they get very confused. I think I would prefer an automated system, and I hate automated systems!!
Sorry guys, I forgot to add this card tot he list (of denials). I applied for this card the middle of last month, I stumbled across the phone number that I had written down a couple of days ago and that is how i came to remember that "I did apply with them, hummm let me give them a call" Well, they are still in review with it. I told the rep, "Just send me a denial letter like everyone else has because I am in the mist of cleaning out my drawres and I dont want to have any more junk in there." The rep fell out laughing and said, they should have a decision in about 7-10 days....well guess what? Those are denial days, 7-10 is a bad luck number....I would not use thoe numbers for lottery at all.
I like this card for the rewards program and the "Signature" prestige. They give 3% cashback in my three highest spending categories each month and 1% on all other purchases, redeemable as a paper check in increments of $50. Points expire after 36 mos. If I save up 20,000 pts. I get $250 instead of $200. Or I can call and have the dollar points switched to merchandise points.
Customer service is provided by knowledgeable representatives who are native English speakers. Sometimes there is a wait time; I had thought Signature would have a dedicated line, but we are serviced by the general Chase line.
This card does not have a 2-cycle balance, so there are no double finance charges. My APR is currently 16.49%, but I'm sure I could have it lowered. Since I don't carry a balance it doesn't matter.
One trival downside of the card is its garish blue color. I asked if they had silver or black or a more subdued blue, and they promptly sent an old silver one. "Old" as in the old Visa logo, not the new one the blue card had, and no "blink" technology, which the blue card had. http://chaseblink.com/blink_flash.asp This is fine since in my area there are very few merchants equipped to use it. Anyway, swiping isn't so very cumbersome.
Noticed that my APR on my Chase card dropped .5% on my statement that just cut. I called and the CSR informed me that most accounts will receive this drop to reflect the Federal Reserve dropping rates. Provided that an account is in "good standing" it should reflect the lower APR within 2 statement cycles. My APR is still high at 21.74%, but I appreciate the little bit of luv.
I applied online and got a 500 credit limit. The only downside to chase is their interest rates are horrible. They have good promotional offers and trying to get lower aprs and cli is like pulling teeth!
I applied for this card almost 2 weeks ago and got the \"Your application is under review and you will receive a letter in the mail in 7 to 10 days explaining our decision\" and I took that as a denial and went about my happy way. But today I was curious as to what really happened and called the underwriting department and spoke to \'Dave\' and he asked me a few questions to verify my address and phone #, and said that he would put it in for a $2000 limit. After I got off of the phone I immediately called the application dept. and spoke the Chalise(sp?) and she asked a couple of questions and told me that I would receive the decision in the mail but I could call the automated number if I would like. I did and \"Congratulations, you are approved with a creddit limit of $2500 with a variable APR of 15.99%\" I am calling tomorrow to combine my chase visa with a $1000 limit and a 23.24% APR to the Freedom card.
I think this is a decent card to use. I like the rewards program on it. I am a little less thrilled with the 17% interest rate on the thing. I can enjoy the fact that I can pay my bill online and it is not a problem. Especially if you bank with Chase as well. I love the fact that when you get the bill, you can see everything clearly.
I called Chase regarding my checking account, only to request a debit card for my fiancee and I get off the line with a new credit card!
I currently have a Chase Flexible Rewards, CL of $1,300.00 and 20.99% apr, yea it sucks. Good thing I have a ZERO balance ;) Which ive never missed a pymt on but still refuse to give me a CLI, so I gave up on the card.
So the CSR goes on to tell me, how she has a great deal for me, that the system has a pre-approval offer for a cc with a higher limit and lower apr...... 0% APR for 6 months on purchases and balance xfers. After the 6 months, 9.99% apr. No annual fee and Rewards.
So, I said yes after a few Q&A and got instantly approved on the phone for a CL of $5,500.00!!!!
Im still in awe because this is now my highest CL card and lowest apr. I feel like I have accomplished something since I barely started building my credit on 01/2007, my first card BTW was the Chase Flexible Rewards ;)
....and my fico scores are....
EQ: 677
EXP: IDK (I will check my records and post later)
TU: 661
I have applied for this card on 03/18/08. My application is still being processed. I will let you know about the outcome as soon as I find out. However, I am pretty sure that I will be denied.
I applied for this card on 3/18, and didn't get an instant approval. Received a letter the following week requesting that I mail in a copy of my most recent electric bill to confirm my address. I called their application status number the next week, and the system let me know that my app was under manual review. I called in again last week because it seemed like it was taking a while, and the system said I\'d be notified in writing within 30 days from my application date. I assumed this meant I\'d be denied, so I called again today and was informed that I was approved! I have no idea why it would take almost a month to review a pretty simple credit card application.
When I applied, my scores were:
Transunion: 726
Experian: 708
Equifax: 713
I was finally approved for this card! It took 3 times but I got it. The first time I was denied was shortly after I was approved for the Disney card from Chase. They told me I was denied due to just opening up an account and not enough history with them. So I waited and applied about a month ago, but I figured I wouldn't get it because I asked for a CLI on my other card with them and got it. Sure enough I was DENIED! Well about a week ago I took out a cash advance on my other card (I have since paid that back) at a chase ATM. Doing so opened up and offer to me about being pre-approved for the Chase Freedom card, so I touched yes for wanting to apply again. Don't ask me why, because I was sure I was going to be denied AGAIN! So this time I swore to myself I was not going to check the status of it as I was sure I knew what it was going to be. I would just wait until I got the denial letter in the mail. Well I got sort of impatient and wanted to check so I was looking for the number to check the status of applications, but I couldn't find it. Next I logged on to my online account with Chase and what do you know below my other account info is the info for my NEW Chase Freedom card!!! I could not believe it! The best part is my limit is the highest of any other card I have! $4,500 And 0.00% APR for a year! I'm so excited this will be the only card I use from now on!!!!
The best way to use this card is on gas groceries drug stores or only 3 things and nothing else. You get the most cash back on your top 3 spending categories. So my trick is to only use this card for 3 things. GAS GROCERIES AND DRUGSTORES. I have consitently been given 50.00 in rewards. If you can be patient and wait to build it to 300.00 you will get back 350.00. I pay this off in full so I do not incur finance charges as well. 05/14/2008 Adjustment Redemption Credit(Other) 74266851353657340006113
$-50.00
Just for using the card I mean what more can you ask for from a card? I simply love getting paid for doing things I do already. It makes sense.
I was approved for this card one year ago. Absolutely the BEST experience I have ever had with a credit card. Two CLIs so far and the cash back reward is great: 3% on the top 3 spending categories; 1% on everything else. When you accumulate $50 in rewards you can get a check for $50 or receive a statement credit. I just received my first $50 check that arrived 5 business days after request. I use this card for everyday expenses (instead of my bank debit card) and pay in full each month. Also, Chase has lowered the APR 5 percentage points since I was approved. Although it doesn't matter since I pay in full, I appreciate the customer friendly policy. GREAT CARD!!
Just approved over the phone this is my second recon.
$1000 CL
APR ??
I dont know what my fico is for EX that what they pulled
truecredit says 529 :( yikes

well it dont matter now cause im approved baby
so for all of ya'll out there that have been denied and have been reading about there recon call that backdoor number and get it done. Be forth coming and have your CR in front of you so you can answer whatever question they throw at you and they ask alot. if you dont get the answer you want wait and call back till you get the answer you want. I cant believe it I just cant believe it.
I had the Chase Circuit City Visa since May08. I had heard of others converting their CC cards to different Chase products, and since Circuit City was doing so poorly I figured it was a good time to try and change.
My first attempt was a call to the "Chase Product Change" department and was unsuccessful. They told me that this card could not be converted. After having read a few stories on other forums, I decided to try again but this time using the standard 1-800 customer service number. This time Chase said "no problem" and that they would convert my account today and to expect a new card and account number within 5-7 days. After I got off the phone, I pulled up my account on Chase.com and it was already changed, the account heading updated as ChaseFreedom.
They stated that it was a good move because the interest rate is much lower and still maintains no annual fee. I was very, very happy with the outcome here.
Way to go Chase!! I also have my car loan with Chase and they gave me a rate that was 1% lower than BOA (5.99% versus 6.99%)
Applied with a 625 and was approved for $2400CL. I have only been rebuilding my credit for the past year. Started out with a 580experian score and a secured BofA platinum plus card($500), eventually got 2 additional department store cards(walmart, $300 and jcp, $200). FYI: haven't made an inquiry for the last 5 months. And only applied for this one card. Figured it was worth a shot as I haven't applied for a card in awhile and needed a rewards card.
I applied on saturday and was approved on monday. Didn't get instant approval but Chase hasn't pulled a credit report on me yet as my credit monitoring service hasn't sent me a text message.
Numerous sites say to apply with a 680+ but the market may be so bad that these companies are just giving away cards. Might be the best time to apply
HELLO EVERYONE JUST WANTED LET YOU KNOW THAT MY WIFE APPLIED FOR THIS CARD ON OCT 9 AND SHE GOT IT CL 10,000
I applied for this card a few days after Citi Drivers Edge and just received it.
CL-7,500
No AF
APR-prime+3.99, 0% for 6 mos, and 0% on BT until 11/09
I wanted this card for some time as well, and figured i'd wrap my apps up with this one. I know, Meya I am having issues with the "submit" button, lol!
I like the fact that you can switch from cash to points whenever. I haven't seen that feature available from anyone without converting it to whatever reward you want.
I actually have the Chase Freedom Plus card. Which gives you 3% on top 6 categories and 1% for everything else. There is a $30 annual fee since I chose the Plus card. The rewards outweigh the extra $30 annual fee which is why I chose it.
Have had this card for about 3 years now. Only $1700 credit limit with 17.99 APR. I call once a year to get them to lower my APR, which they usually lower 1%. They refuse to give me an auto CLI, and I am not willing to take a hard pull. PIF almost every month because of the high APR.
For the couple times I have had to contact customer service they seem to be on top of things and know what they are talking about. I would recommend this card
well i just turned 18 and was approved for a macys card a few days back..so i thought about opening a bank account..while i was opening a bank account at chase they asked me if i wanted a credit card..i said ok..a few minutes later he said i was approved for a chase freedom visa signature card for $8000. damm that was awesome..meaning i just went there to open a bank account so i could deposit a check from college..this was awesome..love chase
I received a preapproval for this card. i applied and recieved a 9klimit. i was suprised. in bad economy. i guess its because of my good credit. anyways its a good card with 3%cashback on selective categories. i hope it turns out to be good.
I, too, was foolish enough to sign up for Chase's paperless statements. At first, everything worked as promised. Every month I received an e-mail on the 8th notifying me that my statement was now available on-line.
Then, last month, I attempted to use my Chase Freedom card and it was declined ! I was embarrassed and completely baffled. I called Chase as soon as I got home. They said my card was declined because I had not paid last month's bill. I told them that I had never received last month's bill because they never notified me that it was available. They said I was responsible to go on-line and look for it. I immediately demanded to speak to a supervisor. Needless to say, the supervisor canceled the finance charge, the late fee, and gave me extra credit. I was also promised that I would receive notification from now on.
So what has happened this month ? NO NOTIFICATION AGAIN ! When I called yesterday (two days after the statement closing)the rep outright lied to me trying to claim that notifications were sent out 72 hours after the statement closes. NOT TRUE. Previously I had always received the notification the same day the statement closed.
So why did I sign up paperless statements ?? Because the ones sent by snail mail usually were sent so close to the payment due date that it was nearly impossible to pay on time.
So tell me, Chase. Is this just poor execution on your part or a deliberate attempt to squeeze late fees out of us by dragging your feet sending out statements ? I'm sure a lot of us are looking forward to your answer.
I use credit cards mainly for their rewards program as my credit history is decent enough. I have been with Chase for over 4 years. Started out with an Amazon.com Visa card issued by Chase and had a Priority Club Visa card issued as well 4 years ago. 2 years ago, I combined the two cards, asked for a CLI and then I had my rewards converted to Chase Freedom. You get 3 points up to $600 in the 3 of the top 15 categories which I usually end up getting plus 1 point for every other purchase. My monthly credit card bill (I use this card for all the bills and groceries and everything) runs about $1200-$1500 a month and I get about 1.6-1.8 points per dollar spent over the entire bill which is more than any other card including Bank of America American Express which gives you 1.25 points per dollar flat.
My current credit limit is $15.5k with a 13.24% APR. I pay in full every month and their rewards program to me is the best value I have seen. Discover is a close second but not everyone takes Discover. I would recommend this card to everyone. I dont carry balances on any cards so APR does not matter that much. I find their rewards program to offer the best points per $ value even though it is slightly complicated. You get 1% cash back on the points starting from 5000 points.
This card is definitely a keeper in my opinion!
Just note that Chase doesn't give you automatic CLIs too often (unless your usage is heavy and limits low) and if you ask for a CLI, it is always a hard pull. But when you do ask for it, they give you good CLIs. They got me from $8.5k to $15.5k two years ago but it was a hard pull. Today it sits at $15.5k and that is plenty.
So I have had a Chase Babies R' Us Card since April 2008 ($200 since, and they won't raise my limit... I've never been late...), and I've had a WAMU Card that was apparently bought out by Chase a few months ago, and I only had that card (with a $1000 limit) from November '08 to July '09 because they closed it suddenly without warning, OR any late payments towards them...
Anyways, so I applied for many many credit cards (15 actually, and was approved for I believe 13 of them, but they were mostly store cards like Walmart, Target, etc...) in the beginning of April this year (2009; a little over six months ago) (so many inquiries are on my report until 2011!!!) and Chase would've been one of the creditors to deny me (I believe Citi was the other one to deny me back then...)
So I applied tonight because I seen so many positive reviews on this website, and plus the high chance of approval, so I gave it a try, and I was approved instantly online! I am yet to find out my credit limit, but I was approved!
My current FICO score for Experian is 728 (10/09), while my Equifax score is 660 (10/09.) I am unsure of Transunion but I do not feel like many creditors pull Transunion from my experience/credit reports... My only deliquency is a cable bill from 2005 which was for $125, and the reason for late payment was because I moved and my landlord did not tell me that any of my old mail was still being sent there... I've never disputed it though.
Anyways, so I suggest applying for this card; it seems to have a high approval rating, no annual fee, and I do have a deliquency on my credit report, AND many many hard inquiries (though it HAS been six months... I know they take two yrs to disappear, but ya...) So I do recommend trying for this card, and if Chase does deny you for whatever reason, try again in six months and you will likely be considered with some additional good history!
Okay, this will be my 5th and final credit card application for next 12 months. I have been applying for credit cards and store cards like crazy for the past few days (not weeks, DAYS).
Received in the mail yesterday the Chase Freedom credit card with Exclusive Benefits and Welcome packet. This is a rewards card that earns 1 point per $1 on all purchases, 10% extra bonus points per $1 spent, plus 10 bonus points on every purchase (because I have a Chase Checking account too). No rewards expiration & $0 annual fee. 0% APR until January 2011, 23% thereafter.
I was doing an ATM transaction 2 weeks ago when this popped up:
"Congratulations! You are Pre-Approved for a Chase Freedom credit card with Exclusive Benefits!" So since I was in a hurry and on this "instant approval streak" and I got curious because the card looked different (it was blackish grey and has the word "exclusives" on the card), I tapped "yes" a couple of times to read more about the offer, and accidentally agreed to apply for the card! I did not see any response (approved or denied) at the ATM, other than: "Thank you for choosing Chase and for submitting your ATM request today for your pre-approved chase freedom credit card."
I panicked because I've been applying for cards non-stop for 4-5 straight days.
Anyway, I logged in to the forums here immediately that same day and asked for the advice of the "credit gurus". smcc suggested to call Customer Service to find out the application status. I searched for their backdoor number here in the forums, called it and heard an automated voice response: "You have been approved. Your APR will be 0.0% until May 2010. Your credit line is $1700.00."
I was so surprised! But also thankful that I was approved. And so happy with the limit they gave me. It's the highest initial limit i ever received. I hope they would give increases in time...
Credit score accdg to Credit Karma at the time of application: TU 702. Always paid in full each month and never late car loan payments.
They also tried to offer a kind of payment protection plan, but i politely declined. CSR was not "pushy" and respected their client's decision.
Was approved to my surprise, I dont have many things in my name. After approval I actually checked my scores and they were 717 experian, 717 exquifax and 726 transunion. Im really surprised my scores are that high my oldest credit card was opened in 2008. Fiance tells me being in Civil Service ups my score, not sure. Waiting on card in mail, dont know the CL yet.
I applied this card first time around last June, that time I don't have banking relationship with Chase. I opened a saving and a checking account in Oct. After a few days they send me a letter which ask me to apply for this card. On the credit card application online you will see that to apply for this card you have to satisfy 3 questions:
1. credit history is clear of bankruptcy
2. credit history is clear of seriously delinquent accounts
3. have NOT been denied credit by Chase within the last 6 months
I knew that so I email the customer service and ask them if I am really qualified to apply for this card but they did not reply. On this other hand, in the mail it said that that is a offer exclusively for customers with bank account. After all, I applied and was denied immediately. I email them afterward but they did not really answer my questions.
Even got rejected but I still like this card though.
Anyway, today I got the true earning AMEX card with more than 14 hard inquiries and I don't really need the Chase Freedom now. I thought Chase is supposed to be less stringent than AMEX right~?
I totally have no idea of my credit score when the first time I got rejected. The second time was probably around 680~699.
Applied for card online and received the Congratulations Your Approved Screen. You will receive your card in 7-10 days. That was two weeks ago, so I called to inquire on when I would be receiving the card and now they are saying I was denied. What's with that? My scores are mid to upper 700's across all three credit bureaus.
