I applied for the Aspire card over a month ago. I was told that I was approved. I was very excited due to an upcoming vacation that the card would have been great for. Then in two weeks in stead of getting my new Visa card I got a letter requesting new information even though I was told I was approved. So I did as they requested and mailed the additional information. Since then I still do not have a card, I can\'t get ahold of anyone by phone, and now after 5 e-mails they just keep asking for additional information. I GIVE UP!!!!! DON\'T WASTE YOUR TIME ON ASPIRE!!!!
Aspire gave me a chance to get my credit back on track after being divorced and my ex ruining my credit and it's taken me a long long time to get my credit back up to where it's at now, and it's not where I want it yet, but I am getting there. So yes I recommend it to people, they really take a chance with people and give them a 2nd chance to prove they can do it. thanks Aspire.
me, my boyfriend and my step father all applied and they said we were approved, needless to say none of us have the card. First they said i was approved and when i didnt get the card i called and they said no you were declined, then my step father never got his card so he called and they cancelled the card, when he called for a new one they said oh we are sorry that account was closed and you can apply again in 90 days. and my boyfriend received his card but he went to use it and it was declined when we called they gave us this story that you cant use your card at certain times of the month, (which we all know isnt true) some people have great luck with this company but we didnt.
Stay away from Aspire, they are the biggest rip off a credit card company has to offer. I received the card back in October and a few weeks later my card was cancelled for reasons i was not aware of. They stopped sending me statements and as a result i had no idea how much i owed. They recently reported me to a credit bureau for delinquency has hurt my credit. Biggest ripoff i have ever dealt with
I was approved right away and used the card online within 1 hour.
Visa Aspire has given customer service a bad name and has also damaged my credit score. According to my bill statement from Aspire Visa's Credit Card Company it says that I have charged a total of $41.50 purchases to my current account.
I've not even been able to use my card because I haven't paid my activation fee yet. I paid $20 of it 3 months ago and haven't sent in anymore payments because I had second thoughts with their company. I should have trusted my instincts! Now they are charging me late fees and interest on an activation fee, not purchases, but are saying that I have used my card to purchase items. There is no detail of what I have bought or where I have bought these such items.
Presently, I owe them $237.35 or a minimum payment of $60. I am not sending any payments for a card that I can't even use. I have called the company's customer service line diligently and have always been kept on hold for 30 minutes or longer just to wait for a customer service representative.
And then when someone does answer, they don't speak English clearly and get confused as to what I am saying to them. Then when they put me on hold to bring up my account, I am on hold for another 30 minutes or they just hang up the phone on me when I ask to cancel my account.
This is ridiculous and I want this to stop. I wouldn't doubt the fact that they have reported this so-called "past-due" account to my credit score. UPDATE: They have posted this to my credit score! I am a 22 year old college student who is just trying to make it through college, let alone stupid credit card payments for something I've never used.
If anyone else has had these kinds of problems with this company, please let me know. Maybe we can prevent them from taking advantage of innocent, helpless victims (like ourselves) ever again.
I had a account with Aspire last year and thank God I paid them off and closed the account. When you call about your account; the calls are routed over seas. It is bad enough that they send our jobs over there, yet you have to deal with someone that have little to no knowledge of your situation and speaks broken english. You can't understand what the hell they are talking about.I mean it was ridiculous and the customer service was horrendous. It is almost like when you call to talk to someone that things are designed for you not to speak to a human being.Good riddens to Aspire Visa. For those of you who are looking for a reliable credit card provider, keep looking cause this isn't it. (Especially if your FICO Score is 600 and above)...... Those bastards will eventually be sued and get what is bound to come to them.
I got my card within 5 days and was able to use it right away
I think they try to help people to get back on thier feet with help to restablish their credit. So keep up the good work, and don't listen to those fools out there, who don't know what they are talking about.
hELLO! UH,,, NO CARD! I WAS "APPROVED" OVER A MONTH AGO...NO CONTACT FROM COMPANY, NOTHING! STEER CLEAR! I SMELL A RIP OFF! WHICH IS SCARY, ESPECIALLY AFTER YOU GIVE ALL YOUR PERSONAL INFO ONLINE AND WONDER WHO IS WALKING AROUND WITH IT!
I applied for a card 3 weeks ago and no sign of it and no response back from the co. via email. I did get ahold of the co. but they say they have no record that I applied for a card even though i got a conformation number. I don't recommend. Pretty scary!!!!
I applied for a card 2 months ago. I was approved, but have not received a card yet. I can not get through to anyone on the phone. Represenatives answer the phone and then hang up on you. They are full of_________!!!!!
if you have applied for this card brace yourself i signed up for it gave them my social number my mothers maiden name all that i was scammed my credit score dropped 30 points and aspire dont even know who i am just as i was rebuilding my credit i applied for an aspire visa and i am ruined again some freak or conartist is running around with my 411 i am so scared i called to put a fraud alert on my credit
I WAS PRE-APPROVED FOR THE CARD AND I CALLED AND RECIEVED MY CARD THE SAME WEEK. THANKS TO ASPIRE I AM REBUILDING MY CREDIT. WITHOUT THEM I WOULD NOT HAVE A CREDIT CARD. I THINK ANYONE WHO NEEDS A CREDIT CARD SHOULD DEFINITELY APPLY FOR ONE.
I applied online for the Aspire Visa and was approved. That was almost a month ago. The online approval gave me my credit limit and told me my card would be to my address in 10 to 14 days. Several emails later and numerous attempts to contact them by phone I have now been told that my application is still "pending" and that the website lied. They transfered me to another non-English speaking person who told me they would send it to their research dept which would take another 7 to 10 days and mail me a letter. They then transfered me to someone else that told me my application would probably be denied because I have another card with a different bank. I am filing a complaint with the FTC and the Attorney General of my state!!!!
I am in the middle of a divorce, and trying to establish new credit so I applied for the card online. Rec'd a instant approval, then waited 8 weeks - still no card. Tried to no avail to reach someone who could at least advise re: the status; I agree that the call seemed to be routed to another country. I ended up calling the number provided by one of the users on this site, and they advised me that my card is pending and it would take 4 to 6 weeks. It's been 8 weeks....this seems to be ripoff....
i was approved in 03 and received the card..i had to pay a service fee and another fee which totaled to 70.00. i kept the card for a yr but i had a problem when you call you always got someone who couldnt speak english...they also tried to make me pay for a charge that I disputed..i paid the amount and cancelled the card because i didnt want any negative information on my credit...I definitely would NOT recommend this card to no one...they are clearly a RIP OFF..
hi i would like to say to everyone aspirecard is great i recently got my purse stolen and they were great they closed my account and were very sympathetic towards me.they sent me a new card within a week with a new account number.i have had them since april and have had no problems. i stand by them they really want to help people build their credit.i stand by them that i put my first and last name .
i recently applied for and recieved my card very quickly, but have not paid the initial $20 dollar payment. After reading all the post i am wondering if i should just cancel. I am trying to rebuild my credit and for sure do not need a fraud company to make it even worse. It also looks like the positive post may be from people who work for the company
I applied online for the card and recieved it within 3 weeks. I plan to pay the activation fee and maintain my account to rebuild my credit...no problems...yet!
Still waitting after 4 weeks I applied by internet and was approved but still I no card. I wish I had found this web sit before a I applied. Now I will try to cancel the application and card before I get it.
I received my card August of 2005 and so far I have not had any problems. Aspire is helping me re-establish my credit.
Very Strange Company- Gives False Hopes, Trouble Communicating with their Customer Service Department.
Please Contact the Better Business Bureau before Applying for anything with " ASPIRE"
This Company Has a Bad Reputation in Alabama.
I have nothing favorable to say regarding Aspire. The company refused to refund my money and were very calloused toward my decision to use their credit card. My money is still in their possession and I have no card. This is simple ludicrus, and I intend to consult my attorney unless they decide to explain things to me that I have questioned. They took my money and fees and left me with nothing.
I signed up for the card over the phone. They asked me to send in information verifying my identity. I did this and it was about 3 weeks before I called. When I did, they assured me that I was approved and the card was on the way. It arrived shortly there after. They gave me a $1000 limit, no annual fee, and no opening fee. My credit score was a low 500. The only stipulation was that I could only access $500 of the 1000 for the first 4 months. As long as I made my payments on time I could get the other $500 then. However, I quickly realized that I was able to use the whole amount within a month. So in contrast to the negative reports, I am satisfied. Hopefully they have straightened out their kinks.
hi i got this card maybe a month ago. I had to pay the $20 fee I paid it and still can't use the card, It dows not give me my balance, they don;t have a website what is going on.
i applied for this card to start my credit and recieved a 2,000 dollar limit for which i would only recieve 1,000 of it until after 4 months if i made payments on time i would get the entire amount i recieved the card about 2 weeks after applying for the 2 months were good...then they lowered my limit bc i was "apparently using my card too much" i did not read in my contract a limit to how much i was allowed to read and when i contacted them on they said they sent me a letter which they did not then about a month later they lowered it again and i was toldi would recieve a letter and then again i did not which is causing me overage fees i am in the process of fighting this me and my lawyer are in court with them i strongly urge you do not get this card.
I got the card and then had to pay the $20 to activate the card. One month later I am still waiting for the card to activate so I cancelled the card and theysaid it will take 7-10 days to get the refund. It has been an ordeal from the begining to deal with this company. DO NOT GET INVOLVED WITH THE ASPIRE CARD!
Hello everyone, I got the Aspire gold visa card. It was great at first, the credit limit kept getting higher and higher but then... Every month they hit you with a account maintenance fee, pieriodic finance charges. Please beware this card holds a 22.25% finance charge. Plus the website and customer service sucks. If you want a good card go with Household bank. I got there card and have had no problems they are 100% better. They only have a 12% finance charge and a great website.
I got a call saying that I was approved for their credit card with a limit of $1750. At first I told them no, I was not interested and then they kept going on telling me that I did not have to pay an annual fee and the interest was low. Finally after I told her to go ahead and send it. She then needed to verify all of my info...such as name, mothers maiden name, home address, and ssn. I was kinda skeptical but did it any way. Then she tried to sell me all of these other promotions that they were offering. Not really able to understand her english to clearly, I began to ask her questions and she caught an attitude with me and told me that she just explained all of that too me. So I told her fine...I'm not interested in all the other stuff no way just send me the card. Well it's been a month or so now. And I have yet to receive it. At first I thought that maybe it was sent to the wrong address. But after reading all the other reveiws this does not sound like a company that I want to have any dealings with no way.
at first i thought they were great until i realized they were ripping me off with all the hidden fees come on now 6.95 for a maintance fee and by the way i have closed this account and still am making paymentsand they are still charging me the extra fees and than some i guess for closing the account,
i have had this card for 2 years and i have had no problems with this company i have paid my bill on time or before the due date. They are helping me to reestablish my credit and work towards a very high credit rating and credit limit.
i had a question, was on hold for ever, then i spoke with one rep. couldn't understand what he was saying, than he put me try another rep, it took 6 of them, and they could't answer my question, then i asked for a manager held for 20 min. until i hung up.
i received the card about 3 months after applying then was told to pay 20.00 to activate i then informwed aspire that i did not need there card i was forced to pay 72.00 to close a account that i never used in order to keep from being sent to collection now my credit report says that they closed the account because of late payment I NEVER USED THE CARD PLEASE CALL YOUR ATTORNEY GENERAL AND MAKE A COMPLAINT AND MAYBE WE CAN STOP THIS COMPANY FROM STEALING
Aspire is ridiculous! I have only had this account for 5 months and have had nothing but trouble. Like a lot of people I got it to help build my credit and was drawn by the no annual fee or service fees like a lot of cards are for people with bad credit history. Fortunately I have learned my lesson and pay my balance in full every month.
My complaint is that they do not send bills in a timely manner. They get it to me only on average a 10-14 days before my bill is due so if forces me to pay their outrageous online or phone payment fees.
Today I called to get that waved and pay by phone but was told that I had already used my one time courtesy waiver (which is true, I used it in September when they failed to send my bill then too) and they could not issue another one. They were very rude and did not help me one bit. They kept saying that they did all they could by sending out the statement and that I should check with my post office. HA! I have no problem getting anything else, I hardly feel it is my post office's fault. It amazes me that these people can even sleep at night for the injustice they do to anyone who gets this card.
I plan on writing a letter to card services at Aspire, the Aspire board members, the BBB, my Attorney General, and the FTC. I urge all others to do the same. They can only continue to take advantage of consumers as long as we stay idle.
I see alot of feedback on here regarding Aspire, 660, and those other what I call "predatory" cards. I dont see 30 people complaining about the American Ex Gold Card!!! My advice to people is.. ( and this is coming from a person who 3 yrs ago had a 530 fico) go to the "real" banks and apply for a secured visa or mastercard. Bank of America, Wells Fargo, and US Bank all offer secured cards with as little as 300.00 deposit. Ive had a US bank secured card, and when I call,, im not treated like dirt, I talk to the same reps who field calls from the "gold card" crowd. I used to get the garbage pre-approved offers from aspire, etc at least once a week, they all ended up in the shredder, and I ended up with less stress.
This card is absolutely HORRIBLE. From the second I signed up..until the day I paid it off. I WOULD NOT RECOMMENT ANYONE EVER GET THIS CARD. It has done NOTHING to help build my credit. All it has done is cause me stress, worry, and and has been a complete waste of my time. They rob you of your money. The customer service...is TERRIBLE. Couldn't be any worse. I could never get real help from any of the online workers. The Aspire website itself is also a joke. The cheat you out of as much money as they can. They will take every dime of your money. The bills came to be late. And when I tried to cancel my account (after paying it off) I had problems..once again. And they were charging me nonsense FEES after I had my balance down to ZERO dollars!...
Please...if anyone is thinking of getting an Aspire Visa card. DONT.
Ive had my Aspire card for over 8 months now. Started with a 300 limit, and now I have a 350. I always pay my balance in full to avoid interest. My only complaints are that there is no online banking center and when you call customer service youre directed to some call center in India or something and you cant understand anything they say. As long as you pay your bill on time and dont have to call and speak to someone, youre fine. Ill give them a 6 out of 10.
I would like to bring to your attention unfair and unethical practice by Aspire Visa who promised me on the telephone and in writing on numerous occasions from March to June 2006 to investigate the two fraudulent and unauthorized charges, each time $200. In addition to ignore my repeated requests to investigate and immediate closure of my account, Aspire surprised me with one additional fraudulent charge in June 2006. Initially, my Aspire Visa credit line limited to $300.00. Then, Aspire increased it to $400. I do not understand why Aspire Visa allowed a third time someone in Georgia illegally withdrawing another $200.00 from my visa account which was already well over the credit limit? Please note that, I haven’t been in Georgia in my life. During the past eleven months, I have sent about nineteen complaining letters to Aspire to two addresses listed on the Aspire’s statements, and also I have made about a dozen times phone calls to Aspire, each time asking Aspire to investigate and straighten out the errors, but all went to deaf ears. Instead, Aspire kept sending me statements, demanding monthly payment. The current balance on my account as reported by Aspire is $1056.64, obviously as a result of the above three fraudulent charges + accrued finance charges. Presently, Aspire personels are harrassing me daily, demanding for money which I never owed. I suspect internal fraud at Aspire and their predatory business practice against minority credit card holders like myself whom they may believe are easy targets and may not have a voice.
I agree with the other comments. The biggest problem with this company is that the statements come too late (if at all), so they sock you with a late fee (and/or a 4.95 fee to pay online). They also have a lousy website; I can't even check my current transactions. I took my car to have some repairs made (only $170.00) and the card was declined because they suspected "fraudulent activity"! My account was current and yet the card was declined. How embarrassing. I am now going to pay the card off and then cancel. I have other cards with much better service. It's obvious that these guys are just bloodsuckers. Pity. ONE good thing is that the customer service rep I spoke with was very polite. He barely spoke English but he was polite.
I have had the card since 12/04 never had a problem yes the card has high fees but low monthly payments. My credit limit is when gotten the card was like $300.00 but after the fees and $20.00 to active the card was like $72.00 since that I have been raised to $850.00 and has opened the door for me to obtain other credit cards. I have read all review about this card and for me I never had any problems just customer service needs to speak better english. Also the only down side is that can not pull account info online to see history. Can make payments with no charge that's a plus.
I have an Aspire Card under my name and Credit Report that has never been mine! Now that I am disputing it, it is with a collection agency and the collection agency believes the infromation to be correct and has updated my report! These guys from what I read are unethical and I dont understand how I have had these charges added to my credit report for a total or $1200.00 when I have read the opening balances are 300.00 less other charges. The account is 6 yrs old, any advice? I am considering contacting the AG's office. No one will help me
Hello, I applied for an Aspire Credit card In 12/1999. I have had this card since 1/2000. I got this card for just in case I needed a card, since it didn't have any fees, meaning if I didn't use it , It didn't cost me anything. I do a lot of traveling, so it was good to have a extra credit card for securing car rentals & Hotel rooms. I let my card acummilate near $4000.00 Then I realized that over the years my intrest rate has risen from 0% for the first year to the highest intrest allowed in this state. Even though my credt score has risen more than 50 points and I never missed a payment. When I called to ask why, They said it was based on past performace. This card is a BIG RIP OFF.
These people are ridiculous. I pay my entire balance off every month, as a general practice for all of my credit cards. The sole purpose for having the accounts was to improve my credit rating. I make purchases well within my credit limit, pay off the entire balance by the due date, and as a faithful customer, expect to have no problems. The last time I used this card was back in October. I noticed after paying off the entire balance, they showed me as still having a few dollars owed, due to some bogus fee. Since the amount was small, and I didn't wish to incur more fees and have a negative mark on my credit report, I elected to pay the remaining owed amount and then some, due to them accepting $10 as their minimum payment. Thus, by my calculations, they owed me around $6 at that point. I have not used the card since, mind you, and was astonished to discover that my balance now total $135 and they are threatening to report me for late payment and continue to harass me with calls every morning and evening. There is no way on earth I should owe them a dime. I overpaid them to specifically avoid any extra charges, now they continue to pile on bogus amounts to try and rip me off. These people are crooks. Don't do business with them. Also, you may find this of interest. http://www.consumeraffairs.com/news04/2006/07/ny_columbus_bank.html
I have had this card since about 1996. they raised my credit limit $1000.00 after I used it to that limit they turned around and said it was never raised. Then charged me over the credit fees of $35.00 and since my min. payment was NOW $1049.00 at that point I could not pay that and also have gotten charged another $35.00 for late payment. So every month they were charging my $70.00 for over limit and late payment fees. As soon as I realized this I contacted them they said my card was in collections so they could not review it until I got out of collections and in order to do that I had to get under my credit limit. Then I did a one time check by phone for my payment and the following month they also used the same check for another payment, they caused my checking account to overdraw. I called immediately that day (it was a Saturday) they said they could not find any information as to who authorized it and told me to call back on Monday. I did and again they kept giving me the run around stating that they could not find any record as to who authorized it. I kept calling and getting the same answer and eventually they told me that it was too far back and they could not investigate it. There employees are rude, I have even gotten hung up on because I was trying to get to the bottom of my problem I was having.
I have other credit cards and have NEVER had any problems like this. This company is filled with LIARS AND CHEATERS!!!!do not get this CARD!!
May I suggest Capital One. Very friendly, honest people!!
this company is absolutly horrible, they closed my account becouse i was over the limit by a few dollars then when i paid my card to its limit i was over the limit again for some fee so i was accesed an over the limit fee two days later. they contacted me about a program where i would recieve no over the limit fee for 6 months so i can pay my card off, that was in october i call every day about the over the limit fees i am being accessed and they say i never even spoke about a program and they hang up on me when they cant explain something to me, this card sucks
I have to say that I am very unsatisfied with this card. I got this card after filing bankruptcy to re-establish my credit. They first time I called customer service, the rep that answered you couldn't understand nothing he was saying and I notice that he talked real fasted, so when I started to ask him to repeat himself or ask him a question he raised his voice at me, I don't know about anyone else but if a company want to stay in business they should treat their customer better. Also after awhile I got a call from ASPIRE saying that they were raising my limit, they did and charged me a fee that they didn't tell me about on the front end, If I had known I would not have let them raised my limit, from what I have heard and read about Aspire they probably would have raised it anyway. I would advise a person that want to re-establish their credit to try getting small personal loans and paying it off within 6 months, because ASPIRE is only putting you back in a hole.
Be very careful dealing with this company. They have lied to me on more than one occasion and have failed to mail me a statement also on more than one occasion. I have found them to be extraordinarily difficult to do business with and at this point am going to cancel out. I strongly recommend all consumers find someone else with whom to do business.
The specific tricks I have caught them at are failing to restore credit available on an account after receiving and collecting a payment, lying about why they have not restored the credit availalable and otherwise failing to provide agreed upon service.
They have now failed to provide a monthly statement on at least two occasions within the last six months. I believe the omission is deliberate.
You have been warned.
Like everyone else, I unknowingly accepted an Aspire Visa offer while I was in college. It came with a $2000 credit limit. I used the card for half of that amount. Suddenly, my interest rate soared from 18% to 28%. This was about three years into my card. I had missed no payments, I was not over the limit. I could find no reason why this happened. I called customer service to complain, and was told that I had an introductory rate--for three years??? I was also told that if I paid on time, they would lower my rate. One year later, I was over the limit because of interest and hidden fees. I called to complain this time and was told that if I paid the amount I was over the limit, they would refund my fees. Lies. They just raised my limit to $3000 so I was no longer being charged $70 every month. Four years later, I owe $2800 on this card. I have not used the card in 5 years. I have faithfully paid not just the minimum balance but atleast 20-30 dollars more every month. I have never gotten a decrease in interest (in fact--to the contrary my interest is now over 30%--due to, in their words, my shaky payment history--however, when I pulled my credit report, they have reported no late payments to the credit bureau). I feel that I will never get out from under this debt. I have paid on average $150/month for a total of around 8-9 thousand dollars--ON 1000 in charges!! Yet, my total balance has only reduced around 500. Every month, only 10-15 dollars goes to the balance. The rest is eaten in finance charges, usage charges, interest, etc. This card is unconscionable.
THis is one of the worst companies I have ever done business with. You open up an account with this company and you may as well just sell your soul to the devil. DON'T DO IT!!!!
Avoid this card! I experienced the worst service and paid such outrageous fees that after one year I let this card go. I used it to charge (over one year) $310.00. I paid out in fees and "other charges" over $550.00. The irony is that I was NEVER last in paying. The first bill I had was for $280.00 even though I had not used the card. These were activation fees annual fees, etc. I called customer service and got the worst experience I have ever had in my life. They really barely speak English and will NOT provide any assist when all is said and done. There are MUCH better and fairer credit builders out there who don't charge these fees. They even make it difficult to pay....even on-line!!! I am so surprised they haven't been investigated by the Feds. Just go anywhere but Aspire.
This is the worst credit card I have ever had. I started with a $300 limit, and due to their fees for this and that which changed every month caused me to go over my limit. Then came the fees for being over the limit when it was there fault, not for charges I had made. I called and told them I wanted to cancel my card and they said the fees would continue to incur until I paid the balance in full. I didn't have money to just hand away to them. Before it was all said and done, my balance was up to $1300+ and I was getting harassing calls everyday. I ended up changing my phone number, but I still get harassing letters about my account being in collections. And the bad thing about this is, when I applied for the card, my husband applied too, so needless to say he has an over the limit account with them too owing about $1200. Over $2500 for 2 cards that only had a total of a $600 limit. It is completely BS. DO NOT GET THIS CARD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I ditto what everyone else has mentioned on this site. I closed my account and am still paying for being over the limit. The only reason I was over the limit is because they keep adding these "mysterious" charges to my account and can not explain what they are all about. I have complained to the BBB and CCPC. Do NOT get this card.
I totally agree I was on time for about a year then I was late once and they shut my card off and continue to charge me late fee, and over limit fees but they cut me off and I only owed them 20 bucks oh hell naw! they call every once and a while and try to call my job continue to say they want to work a plan with me but I'm not about to do any more business with them. For the credit crippled they are the worse!
AGREEING WITH EVERYONE ELSE ON THIS PAGE - THIS CARD SUCKS - DON'T GET IT - I GOT IT IN YEAR 2000 AND ONCE I HAD A BALANCE OF MORE THAN 2000 THEY UPED MY APR TO 29% (NEVER MISSED ONE PAYMENT) THEY DO THIS SO I CAN NEVER GET OUTTA DEBT -- I'M STILL PAYING IT OFF NOW IN 2007- I CAN'T SEEM TO GET AHEAD AND THEY LIKE IT THAT WAY - DON'T GET THIS CARD-
Just have to throw my 2cents in...For those that need a card to re-establish credit, look elsewhere (Orchard Bank to be more precise) and stay completely away from this card! I had this card a few years ago and still remember how awful this card is. Online access is horrible and good luck in speaking to anyone regarding your account. You can't make online payments but I think now you can with a fee. Once I paid this card off, I immediately cancelled the account. STAY AWAY from this card!!!
I do not know how these people are allowed to operate under the term "Credit Card" they should be labeled "Fraud Card". I had some problems after i received the Aspire card. I Paid my account off and thought all was well until the other day, I recieved a call from a collection agency saying i had a balance of almost 2,000 dollars! My credit line to start with was only 300 and i paid this off. CONSUMERS BEWARE, Aspire visa is now ASPEN visa, i recently applied for a Aspen visa not knowing they were Aspire, They told me i was approved, but i never recieved the card, when i received the call from the collection agency, the man told me ASPIRE and ASPEN were the same company. Aspire and Aspen both are prediatory lenders, my advice to everyone is STAY AWAY! And if you get a pre-approval from them, watch your credit report, even if you never apply, the are famous for making up bogus charges and putting them on your credit report.
The Customer Service department that handles this card is sub-standard, rude, and barely possess knowledge of the English language (making communication quite difficult). I unfortunately had this card for 2 years and it was excruciatingly painful each time I had to deal with customer service.
I highly DO NOT recommend this card. It will only complicate your life and bring you sufferring and pain.
(And that is putting it mildly).
I was suckered into this card over the phone by a woman speaking a mile a minute....who I could barely understand. I said what the hell to shut her up and accepted. This company is HORRIBLE. The only credit card company that charges for an online payment. I was forced twice to pay online because they sent their statements so late. You literally get in the mail and have to send it out that day or you're late. They've made no money off of me though. I pay the NEW BALANCE every month and they just keep raising my credit limit. I'm closing it out this month though- it's not worth the hassle. BY FAR THE WORST CREDIT CARD AND SERVICE IN HISTORY.
If there was one thing that I could take back, it was getting this absolutely horrible Aspire card. I had perfect credit until Katrina. I lost my home and my job and had to declare bankruptcy. These guys were the first to contact me about re-establishing my credit. Sounded good as I was looking at seven years of no credit. These people don't have a contact email, no phone number, absolutely nothing. They raise their fees and percentages at random. I can't even get a statement with a balance so that I can pay it off. I am an attorney, and they are going down. Please, please, please don't!
I received this card about 6 months ago. I have been charged a fee to have the card, a fee because of credit problems, a maintenance fee and all that before I even started to use this card. I am unable to get any kind of response on the telephone nor on their "New"
internet site. Can't wait to get rid of this piece of CRAP card. HOPE ANY PROSPECTIVE CUSTOMERS READ THIS BEFORE APPLYING FOR THIS CARD. DON'T DO IT!!!!!
Ask for a higher credit limit and they will read you some bull. Ask what the qualifications are and they will avoid the question. Interest rate is 29% and I do not have any other credit cards higher than 19%.
okay so I got behind on my payments....my fault, I take the blame. However, after talking to them and the rep. telling me that I needed to pay $50.00 to catch up, I did. Then 5 days later I payed a additional 400 to get the balance to $100.00. I called to check my available credit and to my suprise my account was closed.
Thay said they closed it because the bank wanted to and I could do nothing about it.
I called and tried to get an explanationa and after multiple phone calls and e-mails with no response I stopped.
Horrible............
They told me someone cancelled my card and couldnt tell me who. The only thing they could say was nothing. I will never reopen my account with them and urge no one else to either.
I have been reading some of these horror stories and I have to say I have had nothing but good experiences with my Aspire account. I got this card as my first card out of bankruptcy. I've had it for over a year now and I am completely happy with it. They have always been great to work with. Part of the problem a lot of people seem to be having is the fees. I was given the terms up front and have had no surprises.
I would definitely reccommend this card to anyone with credit problems, it has helped me turn things around, even through a job loss and some sketcy payments, they have worked with me.
I dont know, I have mixed feelings about them. I've had aspire over a year and a half now, and I recently got married. I told them to change my name on the card and they sent me 3 cards with the same last name that was there already. 3 months later im still calling them about name change requests, and they told me they needed a copy of my marriage certificate AGAIN. I sent it to them the first three times!! meanwhile every time they sent the wrong card I'd call and I was given the run around speaking to reps about they're incompetence.Once I was on hold for 50 minutes trying to get a supervisor! If they cant get that right, i'd hate to need them for an emergency!!
My husband has had this card for 5 years, and they have always been hard to deal with when there's a problem. Right now, they are claiming they did not receive our last payment, even though I have the canceled check to prove it. They have shut down the account and continue to charge late fees, even though we have PROOF they were paid. Our bank has even called them on our behalf, and it gets us nowhere. And calling customer service is a JOKE. We were on hold for over an hour this morning before giving up. It's hard to fix the problem when you don't ever get to talk to someone about it.
I do not recommend this card. It sucks, to be mild about it.
They claim I have already applied within 90 days, I have never applied from this company before. There are not listed on my credit report (inquiries) maybe this is an excuse for the word "NO"
Thes people that run this account should all go to prison. They are the most f***ing greedy criminals , They rip everyone off, the government is being notified for fraud ,I m sorry i got this card these people are greedy f***ing criminals and Im starting a country wide law suit to stop this bank from doing business,YES WE WILL CLOSE YOU DOWN Every will get there money back. Beware you crooks at Aspire
I was a single mom and thought this card would help if I got into a bind. When I used it and tried paying my bill via phone I had nothing but trouble. After one year I decided it was not worth the hassle and cancelled. After I cancelled I received new cards. Like a dummy I kept them and used it once more and that has been the worst nightmare. I paid it off and was told I had a $12 balance, I paid it again via phone and was then told the $25 late charge they applied would be taken off. That $25 is now over $350 and they will not take it off and it is now on my credit report plus every month some collector is trying to get me to pay at least 1/2 and it will be taken care of. I heard that once or twice before and where did that get me - NO Where. Do not get this card for any reason, they will be in your live and credit forever!!!!
I AM NOT SHOCKED BY SOME OF THE POSTINGS ABOUT THIS CARD, BUT I HAVE HAD THIS CARD SINCE 2005, AND I HAVE ALWAYS PAID MY BILL AND KEPT MY BALANCE DOWN. THEY HAVE GIVEN ME 5 CREDIT INCREASES AND ALSO DECREASED MY ANNUAL FEE TO $ 39.00. I PERSONALLLY HAVE NEVER HAD AN ISSUE. I GOT THIS CARD TO REBUILD AFTER A CHAP 7 BK. I CURRENTLY DO NOT HAVE A BALANCE AND PLAN TO CLOSE SINCE GETTING MY NEW HOOTERS CARD...
After reading a posting from DM getting a call from Aspire to increase limit and reduce APR, I called them, and thought what the heck...I have had this card for almost 3 years, never had a late pmt, or went over my credit line and now have had a zero balance for 3 months. My limit is $900.00. So I called them to ask about an increase in limit and also a reduction in my APR, and I was told that they have no way of doing this, that everything is done on a computer generated basis. So they could not do a manual review. I said OK. And since my hubby and I have recently got 2 hooters cards, Carnival Cruise Mastercard, Direct Rewards Discover, 3 Capital Ones, and 2 Targets, I will let Aspire go..Thanks for all the input and reviews from everyone.
